Spring 2009: Alaska Legislature to honor the Seawolves at Den event

This morning the Alaska State Legislature honored the °µÍøÊÓÆµwomen's basketball team for their record-breaking year. Rep. Chris Tuck (D-Anchorage) introduced a citation praising the team's efforts and great success which culminated in a second-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division II Final Four. The citation will be presented at today's celebration.
The °µÍøÊÓÆµwomen's basketball team just completed one of the greatest seasons in school history with a 31-4 record, its second consecutive NCAA Div. II Final Four berth, and its first-ever Great Northwest Athletic Conference title. Now it's time to celebrate these incredible successes!

The Seawolves' women's basketball team had an incredible year -- they broke more than 25 school records and were ranked among the Top 10 nationally the entire season. Led by All-America senior Rebecca Kielpinski, the Seawolves won 22 straight games from November through February, including a win over Division I Syracuse to capture a third consecutive Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout title.
